Please support the Steve Martland Bursary Fund 2019
This August, 75 young people aged 14 to 18 will attend the Sound and Music Summer School for a transformational week of music making. The Steve Martland Bursary Fund provides help for applicants from financially disadvantaged backgrounds to attend the Summer School, honouring Steve’s passionate belief that education should be open to all.
Please help us raise £25,000 to ensure young composers from all backgrounds have the opportunity to explore and develop their musical creativity. You can read more about the Summer School and its impact below, or donate to the fund today:
Steve Martland Bursary Fund
The Sound and Music Summer School is a week-long residential programme in which young, talented composers are given the unique opportunity to work alongside professional composers and musicians, to develop their composition skills in a wide range of genres and mediums.
In 2015, composer Tim Benjamin conceived the idea of creating bursaries in memory of his late teacher, Steve Martland, to support young composers from financially disadvantaged backgrounds to attend the Summer School.
Any donation you make towards the fund, whatever the size, will go directly towards helping talented young composers from low income backgrounds to attend this transformational, life-changing course.
“[The] Summer School has been so very valuable for my growth as a musician and for my happiness too. I cannot thank the kind people who donated to the Steve Martland Bursary Fund enough for their generosity.” Summer School Student 2017
We hope you will join us in supporting the composers of tomorrow!
